about

On 24 February 1985 In The Nursery were part of a quartet of bands selected to play 'Sheffield Revisited', a special showcase at the Melkweg, a music venue and cultural center in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The concert was the first on the European mainland for In The Nursery and the last with founding member Anthony Bennett who (amicably) would move on to new projects.

Diary entries report the Melkweg was packed and that ITN's impassioned performance was enthusiastically received.

This live recording certainly captures powerful rendiitions of A to I, Iskra, Deus Ex Machina & Witness (to a scream) - the latter sounding as it was originally intended.

An early working of the track Workcorps also gives an intriguing insight into ITN's transition towards the next stage of their career and beyond.

The tracks Fabricata and Illuminata were experimental pieces that Anthony Bennett then developed further with his work as part of the performance art group Fabricata Illuminata, a collaboration with Martin King and Nick Cope that produced a sound piece as introduction to the tape/slide presentation ‘Of Them that Slept’ by artist Roberta Graham and writer Ken Hollings.

This recording was originally licensed to Devils Dandy Dogs for a limited cassette release in 1985 with the master then resigned to the ITN archive - until now.
